Leo G. DeSimone, Sr., 85, of Somerville, MA, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, enveloped in the loving kindness of family and friends. Known for his easy smile and friendly spirit, Leo’s presence brought warmth and light to everyone who knew him.
Leo is survived by his devoted wife, Linda A. (Navin) DeSimone, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Together, they built a life defined by loyalty and laughter. He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his son, Joseph DeSimone, and daughters Lisa Graham, and Annie Aldred and her husband Frank; and Linda’s children, Elizabeth Monette and loving partner, Frank, James Stickles and his wife Tracy, Sheila Phillion, and Tamara Chiarizio. His spirit continues to shine in the faces and lives of his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A man immensely proud of his Italian heritage, Leo was the son of the late Rocco and Emilia DeSimone. He was predeceased by his beloved siblings: Anthony DeSimone and his wife Nancy, Gino DeSimone and his wife Alice, Benny DeSimone and his wife Margie, Emilio DeSimone, Emerico DeSimone, and Ida DeSimone, with whom he shared a close bond and playfully nicknamed “Spidey.” Sadly, Leo’s eldest son, Leo G. DeSimone, Jr., predeceased him, as well.
A graduate of Somerville Trade school, Leo was a gifted auto mechanic who managed Route 9 Getty in Newton before embarking on a long and successful career with Anheuser Busch. He was known for his strong work ethic and retired after 31 years of dedicated service to “Budweiser.”
Leo had an unquenchable passion for life. Whether he was relaxing on Cape Cod with his family and friends, tending to his garden, caring for his Baltimore Oriel, Chippy-Chip, or a drive along the coast with Linda - he was "all in." He possessed an animated sense of humor and found no greater joy than making his wife crack up with laughter.
Leo’s favorite traditions centered around family, food and fun, particularly the Feast of the Seven Fishes, prepared by his wife on Christmas Eve and the yearly Fourth of July celebration at the Cape house and all were welcome!
Of Leo’s cherished memories, he often spoke of exploring Italy with Linda, brother Gino and his wife, Alice and of the fun adventures he and Linda shared with their dear friends, Carl and Lorraine Accardi.
May Leo’s gift of laughter, loyalty, and love continue to inspire us all..
