Leonard Soo Hoo, 82, passed peacefully on February 2, 2024 in Santa Rosa surrounded by his wife, Maxine and son, Greg.
Leonard was born July 26, 1941 to Henry and Linda Soo Hoo in San Francisco. He spent all of his childhood in San Francisco until he went to college in San Luis Obispo where he attended Cal Poly. While there he received his Bachelor’s in Architecture. From there Leonard went to USC and received his Masters in Engineering. While at USC Leonard met his love, Maxine at a party thrown by her sister. They fell in love and married in 1969.
Using the degrees he received from college, Leonard had the opportunity to work on the Warm Springs Dam with the Army Corps of Engineers. This brought Leonard and Maxine back to Santa Rosa where they bought their home and lived there together ever since. Leonard and Maxine welcomed their baby boy into their life in June of 1980. Together they raised their son and enjoyed their life together. He often did many outdoor activities and was even Greg’s Boy Scouts leader. Later in life he loved watching and playing golf and watching USC take down UCLA in football. Once his grandson was born he loved watching him play and grow.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maxine Soo Hoo; son, Greg (Samantha) Soo Hoo; grandson, Matthew Soo Hoo; brother, Patrick (Suzi) Soo Hoo; nephew, Mike (Janet) Soo Hoo; and niece, Nikki (Eli) Shamos; and three great-nephews and -nieces Ella Soo Hoo; Micah Soo Hoo; and Jett Shamos.
Leonard was a quiet but loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend.
