LEROY CANTY JR. Child of God (affectionately known asjuniororR0Y), was born to the late Mattie Belle and Leroy Canty Sr. on February 7. 1935 in Ridgeway. S.c. The vines of Leroy's life were rooted in Baltimore. Maryland where at age seventeen he changed the year of his birth to 1931 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged after serving four years and receiving National Defense. Korean and United Nations Service Medals. Upon completion of his military duties Junior became employed with several companies before settling with French Construction and The Local 194 now known as The 110. He often stated that he has worked on just about every building constructed in Baltimore. He was married to Rebecca Rollins Canty who preceded him in death on February 11. 2015 just six days prior. Junior was the father of five. Vivian Canty (who preceded him in death) Ellis Canty. Sr. Willie Rollins. Alphonso Canty and Michael Blue Canty. He loved life. the ladies. Young and Restless and Wrestling. You could find him watching football. playing one-hand solitaire. or bid whist if he could find someone to play him. Leroy loved his family and friends. and there was a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Speaking of them always made him smile. Family reunions were a special time for him. Even if he did not attend he collected reunion t-shirts. If there was a death in the family. he always wanted an obituary if he could not attend the services. He cared deeply for his longtime companion. Denise "Rose" Ross and her grandchildren. Christian "Fatman" and Taylor. and you rarely saw him without his best friend and buddy Curtis. Leroy was a fighter. who defied odds. At age 75he survived a double lung transplant under the hands of Dr. Aldo Iacono. Despite his strength. on Monday February 16. 2015 at 625am after a six month illness. God saw fit to free Leroy from all pain and called him home to his heavenly reward. The legacy of his season is left to his 4 Sons; Ellis Canty Sr. (Melissa). Willie Rollins. Alphonso Canty and Michael Blue Canty (Tameca). 11 grandchildren. Colisler "Nish", Ellis Jr. Richard. Chaz. Domonic. Charisma (William). Lamont. Jordon. Michael Jr. Kiera and Ayana. Three nieces. Pamela. Cheryl and Hope. 2 nephews.lames Jr. and Tony Randall. Sr .. 1 Sister-in-love.
