LeRoy “Al” Lovesee, age 80, of Wis. Rapids, WI died Friday, April 20, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wis. Rapids, WI. Fr. Dave Bruener will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wis. Rapids, WI on Thursday (5/3) from 4:00-7:00 PM and Friday (5/4) at the Church from 10:00-11:00 AM. There will be an Elks Lodge Service at 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Al was born May 4, 1937 in Knowlton, WI to George and Gertrude (Kieliszewski) Lovesee. He married Marcella Tosch on June 21, 1958 and that marriage ended in divorce. He then married Bernice Linskens in 1984 and that marriage ended in divorce. On June 30, 1989 Al married Patricia D. Barton. She survives.
Al was president of the FIRST class to graduate from Assumption High School in 1955. After attending St. Point State Teachers College, now UWSP, he began a long banking career at Wood County National Bank from 1957 until 1980. In 1983 he worked as an internal auditor for H. Samuels Co. of Portage Wi. Later, Al was named the Branch Manager of the Gillett State Bank, Oconto Falls Office. In 1988 he left that position to take a job in the banking dept. at the central office of Wickes Lumber and later at Georgia Pacific in their inventory control dept. Al returned to Wis. Rapids in 1995 where he finished his banking career as the Vice-President of Bancroft State Bank where he was in charge of the Saratoga and Kellner branches.
Al donated his time to many civic groups at various times during his life. He was treasurer of the South Wood County United Way, a 13th Ward Alderman, a Little League coach and manager for 20 years, a Director and Treasurer of the paper Cities Baseball Assoc. that operated the Wis. Rapids Twins. The Wis. Rapids Lions Club nominated him for Citizen of the Year in 1970. Al was a charter member and treasurer of the Oconto Falls Lions Club and was also a member of the Wis. Rapids Elks Club.
Al will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of his family, being a Packer’s fan, love of Old Chevys and the backyard animals that he fed.
Al is survived by this wife, Patricia Barton; children, Brian Lovesee and Renee Lovesee (Butch Olds) of Wis. Rapids, Rhonda (Jeff) Sadlemeyer of Plover, WI. and Randall Lovesee of Appleton, WI.; stepdaughter, Tamme (Jake) Bielmeier of Wis. Rapids; five step-grandchildren, Jimmy, Jeff and Sarah Sadlemeyer and Amy Andrys and Ashley Bielmeier; four great grandchildren, Kali Stewart, TJ Andrys, Sawyer and Atleigh Sadlemeyer; two sisters, Judy (Don) Smith and Elaine Haasl both of Wis. Rapids; daughter-in-law, Pam Lovesee of Wis. Rapids and former wife, Marcella Lovesee.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, son Bruce Lovesee, stepson Troy Rogers, and brother-in-law Bill Haasl.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Assumption HS scholarship fund or SWEPS food pantry.
