Lila's Obituary

A graveside service for Lila Kleppen will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Ebenezer Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at Wildwood Hall in Plentywood, following the service.Lila Kleppen, the daughter of Albert and Alma (Berg) Lindquist, was born at Starbuck, Minnesota on March 4, 1921. She passed away peacefully at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home in Plentywood, Montana, on August 9, 2014. Lila attended the rural Monroe school and graduated from Antelope High School in 1938. It was during her tenure at Antelope High School that she met her husband, Arthur Kleppen, and they were married in Plentywood in 1938. Lila and Art moved to Concord, California where Art worked in construction. In 1942 Art entered the U.S. Army. After his service, they returned to the Plentywood area and began farming, and Art worked as a carpenter. They farmed near Outlook, Montana, and were married for 57 years until Art passed away in 1995.Lila lovingly cared for Art during his later years while he suffered from Parkinson's disease. She diligently read anything and everything about this condition, causing one neurologist to comment , "Lila I think you know more about this disease than I do; can I have my students come in and ask you any questions they may have?"Her Christian faith was most important to her, and she and Art had Sunday fellowship meetings in their home for many years. Lila was a quiet, kind, thankful person who always took life's experiences in stride. Lila was a wonderful mother. Lila is survived by three children: Lila Faye Berberet, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Curtis and Elizabeth (Cantonwine) Kleppen of Outlook, Montana; and Lindy and Dr. Leroy Hoversland, of Ronan, Montana. Lila is also survived by her grandchildren: Kirk (Sallie) Hill, Scott (Shelli) Hill, Britt (James) Rodriguez, Erika (Rob) Cannon, Trent Kleppen, Shane (Suzanne) Kleppen, Jed Kleppen, Lane Kleppen, Kara (Adam) Conley, Jennifer (Brad) Fisher, and Suzanne (Brad) Bone; and also by 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Kleppen; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bud Hill; a grandson, Kevin Hill; and five siblings: Cedric Lindquist, Grace Haugen, Eunice Kleppen, Allan Lindquist, and Audrey Solberg.
