It is with great sadness that the family of Lillie Shackelford announce her passing on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the age of 97. She will always be remembered for her Christian faith, her humor, hard work, kindness, and love of family. Lillie was a long time member of Karnack Baptist Church.Lillie was one of 16 children born to Robert and Martha Fritsche of Houston, Texas. Of sixteen children, Lillie was the last to go home to be with the Lord. She was born May 20, 1928. Her mother passed when she was 6 years old. She instinctively took on the role of helping her father raise two younger siblings. She was educated in public schools, graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1946. She excelled in archery and singing. She and her sister Bernice sang professionally at Houston’s local radio stations and other venues in the Houston area. They were in such demand locally, Hollywood came knocking wanting them for bigger things. But her father said, “NO!” He didn’t believe Hollywood’s morals were up to his standard and in no way would let his girls take off.Lillie met and married Roy Woodrow Sehlke, had two daughters and with the same dedication she had at six years old, settled in raising her girls. Life happened and years passed finding Lillie raising her girls alone. Then in 1959 she met Travis Floyd Shackelford, fell in love and married. In 1963 they moved to the North East Texas area where she lived the rest of her life.Lillie will lovingly be remembered by her two daughters; Jayne Lynn Sehlke Hobbs and Rhonda Sehlke Flurry and her husband Charles Ronnie Flurry, four grandchildren; Michael Todd Brannon and wife Kathryn, Jeff Edward Brannon and wife Miranda Trista Michelle Fredieu and Quinten Ross Flurry. Lillie had three great grandchildren; Locke Alexander Brannon and wife Molly, Jessica Brannon Todd and husband Charles, Dustin Allen Farrar and wife Kimberly. She also had four great-great grandchildren Bradley Allen Farrar, Beau Mason Farrar, Daxton Morris, Caroline Todd and one more girl on the way. She will always be a light in our hearts!
