Lillie Mae “Muh” Nelson Dixon, 99, passed away in Greenville, Texas on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Lillie Mae Nelson Dixon was born in Lone Oak, Texas to the parentage of Louis Nelson and Lessie Mae Sanders Nelson on Monday, May 4, 1925. She received her formal education from schools in the Lone Oak School District, graduating from Lone Oak High School.
At an early age, Lillie united with Wesley Chapel CME Church of Greenville, Texas - remaining faithful to her church as long as her health permitted. She served in various capacities and auxiliaries including Daughters of Wesley and the Usher Board. She worked for the Washington Hotel of Greenville for many years. She was married to the late Johnnie D. Dixon.
Lillie “Muh” as she was fondly called was a home maker - she loved cooking, fishing, playing cards and bingo until her health began to fail. At that time, she would do special scripture reading for the day from Psalms 23. For ten years, she was under the care of her loving daughter, Brenda until God called her home.
Loved ones left to cherish Lillie’s precious memory and legacy of her life: three daughters, Brenda Dixon, Linda Miles and Marsha Wilson (Arthur); a son, Larry Dixon; special sister, Erma Jean Nelson; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; a special friend, Eddie Ruth Evans along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie D. Dixon; parents, Louis Nelson and Lessie Mae Sanders Nelson; a daughter, Carolyn Hall; a grandson, Corey Hall; a granddaughter, Myeshia Ramsire; siblings, Leon Nelson, James “Jim” Williams, Raymond Nelson, Billy Wayne Nelson, Louis Nelson,Jr., Bruce Wayne Nelson, Bonnie Nelson and Barbara “Sister” Williams.
