Obituary

Lindsey's Obituary

Lindsey "Sonny" Watkins was one of twelve children born on December 31, 1944, to his parents, Edmond Watkins and Goldie Johnson Watkins.

Lindsey served his country in the United States Air Force; after his enlistment, he returned to Beaumont, where he worked as a foreman with Malone & Hyde warehouse for over 15 years until they closed the business. He later drove for Yellow Cab Company in Beaumont for over ten years.

Lindsey met and married Rose Mae Eddie, and in this union, three children were born: Lindsey, Jr., Tiffany, and Jason, Sr.

Lindsey was loved by many and was known by many names, such as "Funny Money," "Sonny," "Uncle Bubba," "Daddy," and "Pops," and each one of those names had a special meaning to those who knew and loved him. Now, he had a funny sense of character and loved to have fun, which is a part of his charm. His children and grandchildren loved Lindsey, and he always had a word to put a smile on their faces. He will be genuinely missed.

On June 11, 2024, Lindsey Sr. passed away at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Goldie Watkins, and brothers, Jerry Watkins, Joseph Watkins, Nolen Watkins, and Michael Watkins.

He is survived by his children Lindsey Watkins, Jr., Tiffany Watkins, Jason Watkins, Radashia, Angela, and bonus children Prentice Woods, Barbara Woods, and Iran Woods. His siblings are Ester, Dolleta, Camille, Faye, Judy, Gwen, Gloria, and many grandchildren, relatives and friends.
