Lloyd Newman

Lloyd Newman, 94, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. A Dillard University graduate with a B.S. in Mathematics, he served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War, then spent over 30 years with the Jefferson Parish School System teaching carpentry and auto mechanics to thousands of students.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Newman and Thelma Minyard, and his sister, Claudia Gurley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Delores Newman; his daughters, Latisha, Latonja, and Valerie Newman; his sons, Kevin and Melvin Newman; three grandchildren and their children; one nephew, Keith Mackey; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1625 Annette St., New Orleans, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM.
