Lois J. Swisher, 99, of Stroudsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at Gluco Lodge Personal Care Home in Stroudsburg, PA.
Born on January 31, 1927, in East Stroudsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Hannah E. (Eilenberger) Bronner.
She was the beloved widow of Charles Swisher, who predeceased her in 1983.
Lois was a dedicated professional, having worked as a Sales Correspondent at Cooper Industries and previously as the Executive Secretary to the Administrator at the former Monroe County General Hospital. She was a proud graduate of East Stroudsburg High School and the former Churchman's Business School.
A devoted member of the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, Lois served as an elder and Bulletin Editor. Her community involvement extended to being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a former Girl Scout Leader, a volunteer at PATH women's shelter, and a member of the Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Auxiliary, where she lent her sewing expertise to her beloved quilter's group. Lois was known for her creativity and skill as a seamstress, basket weaver, and stained glass artist, as well as her talents in the kitchen as a cook and baker.
Lois is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Sally Ferreira, wife of Joe, and Tina Swisher, wife of Chris Hughes; a son, Peter Swisher, husband of Angie; three grandchildren, Ryan Swisher, husband of Sciandra, Andrea Bachman, and David Ferreira, husband of Jennifer; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Una Marie Bronner.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 28th at East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, 55 Smith St., East Stroudsburg, PA. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 11 to 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 28th, at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, "Village of Johnsonville," Bangor, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, 55 Smith St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, or PATH East Stroudsburg, 149 Saw Mill Ct., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
