Lon's Obituary

Lon Neal Sadler, 66, of Grinnell died Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at UnityPoint-Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, at Cox-Smith Funeral Home. A private burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lon was born on July 25, 1959, to Robert and Peggy (Williams Lisk) Sadler in Grinnell. He graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1978. Lon worked for the Poweshiek County Ambulance and later at DeLONG Sportswear. On April 18, 1987, he married Lola Inman at the Nazarene Church in Grinnell.

He enjoyed woodworking and baking. Lon and Lola loved to go camping; always cherishing the time with family. Rock Creek was always their home away from home. He taught the grandkids how to fish. Every trip to Wal-Mart with one of the grandkids there was a guarantee that they didn’t leave empty-handed. Lon loved his family; and even with his health failing, there was always time for them.

Lon will be missed by his wife of 38 years, Lola of Grinnell; daughters, Heather Brannon (Caleb Sundberg) of Grinnell and Bettye (Bryan) Boothroyd of Carlisle, Iowa; grandchildren, Izabella Brannon, Shaymus Sundberg, David Tapley, Edward Boothroyd and Johnathan Boothroyd; siblings, Deb Eyestone, Wayne Sadler and Tracy Sadler; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dimitri Sundberg; and his siblings, Clint, Ray and Vicky.
