Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry, I just now saw this. As he did for so many, Lonnie managed my Little League team for a couple of years. I have such fond memories of that time and all I learned from him (and his coach, Jim Walsh). My dad was from WV too, so we always got to hear some good stories from those two; my ancestor's farm was just down the road a bit from Lonnie's home town. I was in Mundelein a few years ago and on a whim stopped by the carpet store to see if he was there. I no sooner said "you may...

This was a very hard weekend one of the hardest in my life I'm gonna miss my father and his corny jokes . but He had a lot to be proud of. He got to see his carpet store paid off and he got to see the cubs win the World Series. he got to be a grandpa and a great grandpa . He got to do LOTS of traveling. now he is in heaven with all the family and friends that went before him and will never hurt again . I love and miss you dad.

I am going to miss you so much papa!!

There are so many memories throughout the years. The audio books we listened to on our way to Tennessee. I can hear them in my head. The jokes, the kindness, your smile, your laugh. Your were an amazing grandfather to your grandchildren. An unselfish man. Always willing to help the family. I'm so glad the you were a part of mine and my children's lives. You will truly be missed by so many. Rest easy Paw Paw. Until we meet again. We love you! ♥

While I was a cable installer I drilled a hole in a customers carpet in Glenview. Then I called Lonnie, told him the situation, he came out and sewed the damage by hand. It amazed me, he then sold the customer on the rest of their carpeting. He has been one of the nicest and greatest men I know. He definitely will be missed dearly.

He was the best little league coach Mundelein ever had. It was always a pleasure stopping in and visiting with Lonnie at his shop. Our condolences to your family.

Lonnie was one of the great ones. Always a smile and a funny story. I've known Lonnie for a long time and he always went out of his way to help me any way he could. Could go on and on saying great things about the man.
Deepest condolences to the family.

I'm sitting here trying to think of what to write and my mind becomes flooded with memories. Everything from Cub Scouts to Little League to just hanging out. I could sit here all day and talk about My life Growing up with you and your family. You were such a huge presence in my life and I thank you for that. You are going to be hugely missed by me and so many people. Thank you again for the wonderful memories.

Was a honor to have met you through your amazing grand daughter Jacquelyne you were always so kind and welcoming! Rest in heaven. My condolences to the entire family.
