Thank you for being a partner in the journey of raising our son Darius. The bond & love you two shared can't be duplicated. This past year was challenging & you got even closer. He & Felecia will always remember & miss the Sunday visits & bringing you QT coffee & whatever collection of snacks/food you requested. We joked about it but Mercy hospital was not your home. You fought to stay but God had other plans now you're finally HOME. Rest well my friend until we meet again.❤

Mr. Lorenza Keith Spencer, 67, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Atrium Hospital Mercy in Charlotte, NC.
Lorenza Keith Spencer, affectionately known by many names, Lorenzo, Keith, or simply Spence, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 67. Born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, he was the son of the late William Spencer Sr. and Marion Jean Spencer.
Lorenza’s life was one of quiet strengths, deep faith, and unwavering service. He attended Parkview and Montlieu Elementary Schools, Northeast Middle School (now Welborn Middle School) and T. Wingate Andrews High School, where he played baseball and marched proudly in the school band. He furthered his education at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.
Professionally, Lorenza dedicated over 30 years as a security officer at Carolina HealthCare System in Charlotte, now known as Atrium Health Medical Center, advancing up the ranks. Prior to that, he served as a correctional officer at Sandy Ridge Prison Camp in Greensboro, NC. and Mecklenburg Prison in Charlotte, NC. After retiring from law enforcement, he found joy working as a car transporter at Charlotte Douglas International Airport—a role that combined his love for travel and admiration for cars.
Fraternally, he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Masonic Lodge.
Lorenza was a man of many passions: traveling to beachside destinations, building his gun collection, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and most of all, praising the Lord. His personality was delightfully complex—quiet to some, talkative to others, depending on the mood and the company, but one constant remained: his generous spirit and steadfast faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Lynette Spencer, and his brother William McKinley Spencer Jr. He leaves behind a wife, Jannie B. Spencer; his loving daughter, Lynette M. Spencer; his loving son, Darius J. Christian; and his siblings, Janice Davis (Craig), Dale Spencer, and Ivan "Trent" Spencer (Stephanie). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fraternity brothers, and countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.
Lorenza’s legacy is one of faith, family, and quiet resilience. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
