Not sure what to say?

Shortly after their marriage, we became friends, while stationed at Fort Meade. We have many great memories of her and loved her like a sister. You are in our hearts forever.

Loretta's Obituary

Loretta M. Anderson, a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on October 30, 1952 in Paso Robles, California.  She passed away peacefully at Baltimore Washington Medical Center surrounded by her family on Friday, September 26, 2025.  She was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert Richard and Charlotte Elizabeth Stevens Elliott.  Upon Herbert’s retirement from the military, her family settled in Glen Burnie where Loretta graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1970.  She enjoyed a successful 27 years career with the National Security Agency where she met her future husband, Thomas (Tom) Anderson, when he was assigned to the Agency with the US Army.  After a brief courtship they were married on April 7, 1979 in Glen Burnie and were blessed with two daughters.    As family unit they accompanied Tom throughout his military career moving to Hawaii and Japan before settling back in Maryland.  While in Japan, Loretta developed and published a monthly Sagami Depot Newsletter providing community information to 90+ residents of the Depot as well as new arrivals to Japan; which was later adopted by US Army Japan for all areas.   She was a member of the Fort Meade Garden Club working diligently for several years to coordinate and schedule guest speakers for the monthly club meetings.  She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing; making Halloween costumes for her children as well as neighbors’ kids in Japan. Loretta loved to take cruises and RV vacations.   As an avid collector, she filled her home with mementos from everywhere the family lived or visited.   Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 46 years, Tom Anderson of Severn, daughters Dawn Karagiorgis of Severn and Melissa Wilson (Timothy) of Pasadena, sister Wanda Manning (Chuck) of Virginia, Sister-in-Law Donna Fielding (Jay) of Texas and Brother-in-Law John Anderson (Juliette) of Pennsylvania, and grandchildren Joshua Buxton (Melissa), Areanna Karagiorgis, and Tomi Jo Wilson.   In lieu of flowers please plant a tree or make a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
