Loretta Washington-Williams was born on January 11, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Andrew and Esther Washington. Loretta went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 9:28 p.m.Loretta was the firstborn of four children. Her father, mother, brother, Fredrick; sister, Cathy; son Angelo and daughter Loretta (Candy); grandson, Andrew, proceeds her in death.Loretta re-united with her high school sweetheart, Cecil Lee Williams. To solidify their love towards each other, they entered into Holy Matrimony in January of 1976. Cecil preceded her in death.Loretta attended Dunbar High School. Determined to complete her education, she went on to obtain her GED in April of 1985, and proudly presented it to her father.Loretta started her Postal career on August 4, 1965, as a PTF Mailhandler at the South Suburban Facility. In 1966, she became a steward for the National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees. Later she would be transferred to AMF O’Hare where she became the first Administrative Vice President of National Postal Mailhandler Union Local 306, Branch 11.Loretta attended and participated in many educational programs that the United States Postal Service offered to enhance her career and assist people. She served as a counselor with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Program for Alcoholic Recovery (PAR) and Illinois Substance Abuse. Loretta received numerous awards and certifications for her dedication.After many years of dedicated service, Loretta retired from the United States Postal Service on March 6, 1991.Loretta began to attend Sweet Holy Spirit Church in 1997, and re-dedicated her life to Christ in 1998. She loved the children and became a fulltime volunteer with the Children's church. Due to her failing health, Loretta began to attend Banner of Faith Ministry with her daughters.Loretta loved to bowl, travel, work with the Union and play cards. Her favorite things to do were go shopping and eat great food.Loretta was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.Loretta leaves behind to cherish her memory son, Dedrick (Sherrell); daughters: Spring (Lester Sr) and Esther; son Lester Williams; Sister, Audrey (Lamont); brother in law, Stan; son in law, Anthony; grandsons: Cedric (Shameca), Michael, Cecil, Justice, DeAngelo, Talon, Lester, Nillon and LaQuinn; Granddaughters: Dedrisse, Angela, Talia, Jocelyn, Lil Spring, Merce’des, Dakota, Tasha, Sheena, Patrice and Tenisha (Darian); Goddaughter Pam; two special friends: Linda and Shirley, caregiver, Delinda Phillips, a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
