Lorilee Ann Mundfrom, 76, passed away under the attentive care of Avera McKennan Hospital on February 15, 2026, following a long year of chronic health challenges.
Lorilee Ann Torgerson Mundfrom was born to Lorimer and Irene (Holt) Torgerson in Fergus Falls, MN, on September 11, 1949. Pauly, Pinky, Chrissy, and Buster could not have been more excited to welcome their baby sister. Lorilee spent her early childhood on the farm in Aurdal Township and attended rural school District #143. When her parents moved to McIntosh, MN, to operate the nursing home, she attended a new school and gained special, lifelong friends.
Earthly loss came into Lorilee’s life while she was still quite young when her beloved Grandma Ella, her precious father, and her oldest dear sister Cynthia passed on to Heaven over a short period of time. Lorilee attended school in Fargo for a time while her mother assisted in the Estenson home. Then, Irene and Lorilee made their home in Fergus Falls where Lorilee attended and graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy and was an active member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church. She believed in her youth that Jesus Christ was her Savior and faithful Friend and that He would always guide her.
As a young woman she took classes at Fergus Falls Junior College, traveled with Lutheran Evangelistic Movement Gospel Crusaders, studied at the Association Free Lutheran Bible School at Medicine Lake—where she met John Mundfrom, worked at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and majored in music education at Concordia College, Moorhead.
John and Lorilee were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls on January 5, 1974. Throughout their 40 years together, they served the Lord in a variety of places and capacities. John became a pastor and Lorilee embraced her role as pastor’s wife; they ministered together for the sake of the Gospel, living in Grand Forks, ND, Fargo, ND, Robbinsdale, MN, Eagan, MN, Eben Junction, MI, Beulah, ND, Bismarck, ND, Eugene, OR, and Beresford, SD. They were blessed to be the parents of Tim and Josh, whom they loved in the deepest way possible.
Over the years, Lorilee was employed in various music education positions and also worked for a number of credit unions and banks. She served on the board, including as president, of the Women’s Missionary Federation. Lorilee was known as a beautifully skilled pianist, organist, and vocalist. She also enjoyed gardening, homemaking, and counted cross-stitching.
When she faced multiple physical difficulties in later years while living together with Tim and Josh in Sioux Falls, SD, Lorilee faithfully spoke loving words of thanks and praise to God. She will be remembered as a sweet daughter, sister, and friend, a doting aunt, a supportive and loving wife, a devoted mom, but most importantly as a daughter of her Redeemer whom she is worshiping face to face.
Lorilee is survived by her sons, Timothy and Joshua; her adored brother, Paul Torgerson; her brothers-in-law, Lowell Franze, Dan (Elaine) Mundfrom, and Steve (Joanne) Mundfrom; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Torgerson, Ruth (Mark) Antal, Rachel Chesley, and Priscilla (Martin) Horn; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorimer and Irene; her parents-in-law, Gerald and Margaret Mundfrom; her husband, John; their daughter, Deborah; her sisters, Cynthia Estenson and Sonia Franze; her brother, Grant Torgerson; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Marie Torgerson, Virgil and Betty Estenson, and Bill Chesley; and young nieces and nephews gone on early.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, with fellowship and light refreshments to follow the service.
Burial will take place at a later date in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
