Lancaster-Lorraine Y. Powell, 63, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Karen Powell, Clifford Powell III & Alicia, Ernesto Powell & Maritza, Humberto Adams, Vladimir Powell & Valentine, Dariuz Powell & Tara, and Sashka Muhammad & Faheem; generations of nieces & nephews, notably Roderick Rodriguez; several aunts & uncles, extended family and many dear friends, especially Edith Parent and Donna Patts. She is pre-deceased by her sister Patricia Thomas.
Daughter of the late Clifford & Sylvia (Campbell) Powell, Lorraine was born, raised and educated in Panama City, Panama. She graduated from the Balboa High School, Class of 1980 and emigrated to the United States at the age of 26, settling in Clinton and later Lancaster. Lorraine enjoyed her successful career caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Ferguson Rest Home, River Terrace Healthcare, and later Notre Dame Healthcare Center in Worcester, from where she ultimately retired. A sweet soul, and naturally entertaining, Lorraine drew laughter and affection in every room she entered and brought an abundance of joy to all she encountered. A woman of great faith and a daily prayer warrior, Lorraine lived a life of gratitude and was a proud recipient of a kidney transplant, which she affectionately named “Troy.” Among her greatest pleasures were shopping, shopping, and more shopping. After shopping, she enjoyed trips to “Twinny” to play the slots, keeping up with Tik Tok, starting each day with a Disney movie, catching up on her cartoons, or cruising for a ride in her SUV “Leroy.” Above all, Lorraine cherished every minute spent in the company of family and was most proud of her nieces and nephews.
A Calling Hour will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 5 until 6PM with a funeral service immediately following at 6PM in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lorraine Powell to: National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. Online condolences may be placed at www.mcnallywatson.com
