He was a great friend.

Louis was like a brother, to me. I stayed at their house, alot. Dana, his older sister and I were very good friends. My heart is broken, over both of their losses. RIP Louis.

Kassie, I am at a loss for words. May your precious memories of your daddy fill you thoughts and heart during this time.
My sweet Jentry, I am so sorry for your loss. I love you all and will hold you in my prayers.

Offering our deepest sympathy during this difficult time.

So many memories of Louis. He had a great sense of humor and was quite the cut up! I know he loved and was so proud of Kassie and Gary and his grandbabies. He will be missed.

Louis's Obituary

Gary “Louis” Lawrence passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 66. Louis was born to Ray Daniel and Nina Rose (Crickenberger) Lawrence in Chickasha on March 13, 1959. Louis spent his early years in Rush Springs and attended high school there. He married Debbie Waters in 1985 and together their union produced two wonderful children, Gary and Kassie.

Louis began his working life on the drilling rigs in the oil and gas field, where long days and tough conditions shaped his strong work ethic. A lifelong traveler of highways and backroads, Louis spent years behind the wheel as a proud truck driver. In his youth, Louis was raised in the watermelon fields of Rush Springs selling melons off the back of a truck— a simple joy he returned to later in life, greeting customers with the same joy and long-winded “giftuh gab”. A truly gifted musician, he could pick up just about any instrument and make it sing- backwards and upside down! Louis never met a stranger— he loved to talk, to listen, to make real connections, share and trade wisdom. He was truly a father figure for so many. Louis was a man of many talents and skills, he was a carpenter, mechanic, and a master cook. He enjoyed sharing his creations with anyone. When he had free time, he also enjoyed playing the games at the casino. His love language was gift giving, he took pride in building something special for those he loved. Most of all, he always wanted to stay close to his family. He cherished time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. His was a life full of stories, laughter, and song.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Retha Rogers and Dana Stover.

Louis is survived by son Gary Landon Lawrence of Eureka Springs, AR; daughter Kassie Lorraine Nabors and husband Preston of Blanchard; grandchildren, Jentry Joann and Evalyn Ray; siblings Paige R. Lawrence of Rush Springs, Terral Lawrence and wife Reba of Sandwich, IL; Susan Green of Edmond; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
