Loyal's Obituary

Bill Moellers, age 77, passed peacefully into Heaven on November 29, 2025, at his home in Petaluma, California, held lovingly in the arms of his family.

Born on October 2, 1948, in Decorah, Iowa, Bill was the beloved son of the late Esther (Uhlenhake) and Rafael Bernard Moellers, and was raised as well by his stepfather, Glen Stuart.

Bill graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in business before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force as a helicopter pilot. He later married the love of his life, Catherine Mary (Moschella), with whom he built a life full of devotion, adventure, and unwavering love. Together they raised their children, Jennifer Gwen and Zack Trevor Solomon, and in 1980 their family became complete with the arrival of Bethany Amanda Moellers.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Marie McCalmon.

He is survived by his devoted wife Catherine; his children Jennifer (Solomon) Mattox of Petaluma, California, Zack Solomon of Louisville, Kentucky, and Bethany Moellers of Rohnert Park, California; his sisters Myra Margaret Dewulf, Renee Esther Elliott, and Waneta Rose Montgomery; and his treasured grandchildren William Solomon of Minot AFB, North Dakota, Juliet Mattox of Denver, Colorado, Bennett Solomon of Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Jacqueline Mattox of Hempstead, New York, Canyon Stillwell of Rohnert Park, California, and Jameson Mattox of Petaluma, California. He is also survived by daughter-in-law Karmin (DuBose) Solomon, son-in-law Jason Mattox, and dear family friends Suzanne Lamothe and the Gorath family.

Bill lived a life marked by generosity and quiet service. He was always ready to lend a hand, to solve a problem, or to gently mend whatever was broken, whether it was a household project or a moment in someone’s day. With Catherine by his side, he found joy in gardening, kayaking, traveling, and exploring the world on 28 memorable cruises. During his seven-year journey with Alzheimer’s, Catherine cared for him with profound devotion and love.

At the family’s request, a small and private Celebration of Life will be held on December 21st.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
