Mrs. Lucnuia Cook Harris was born on January 9, 1938, in Okolona, Arkansas, to the late Adron and Beatrice Cook. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church in Okolona, where her faith took root and grew strong.
Lucnuia was a proud 1957 graduate of Simmons School, the local segregated school for Black students. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she later met the love of her life, Louis Harris. The two were united in marriage in 1958, and together they were blessed with four children.
After spending several years in Chicago, the Harris family returned home to Arkansas, where Lucnuia began a long and fulfilling career at Longmeadow Nursing Home. She served faithfully as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for 31 years and later earned her Medical Assistant License. Her compassion, patience, and dedication to caring for others left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with and cared for.
Lucnuia was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Malvern, Arkansas, where she served diligently on the Pastor’s Aide Committee until her health began to decline. Her love for the Lord was unwavering, and her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Adron and Beatrice Cook; her sister, Tecumseh; her devoted husband, Louis Harris, Sr.; her son, Kevin Harris; and her sons-in-law, Ronnie Easter and Jay Mehrhoff.
Lucnuia’s beautiful memory will forever be cherished by her loving children: Valerie (Marlon) Morgan, Yvette Mehrhoff, and Debra Easter; her grandchildren: Tyredia Baugh, Aisha Harris, Latoya Luster, Ebony Morgan, Jessica Easter, Jonathan Mehrhoff, and Danielle Easter; her sister-in-law Martha Windsor; brother-in-law Allen (Dorothy) Harris; and daughter-in-law Vickie Harris. She will also be fondly remembered by her special friends: Exia Joe, Bernice Wilson, Joyce Hogan, Carredur Mae Vaden, and Nedra Robinson, along with numerous great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Her Home Going Celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Malvern. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Harris will be laid to rest at Little Rock National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:30 P.M.
Her online guestbook is available below for friends and family to share messages of love and remembrance. Brandon’s Mortuary is honored to serve the Harris family with dignity, compassion, and care.
