Lucy L. Brightshue

Lucy L. Brightshue, 97, formerly of Martha Street, passed away the morning of August 24, 2018 at Quality Life Services- New Castle.

Born February 16, 1921 in Pinchalong, PA, she was the daughter of Perry M. Christy, Sr. and Lucy D. (Weston) Christy.

She married Wayne S. Brightshue, Sr. on April 3, 1939 who preceded her in death in 1966.

Prior to being a homemaker, Lucy was employed with Reliable Luggage and Hamilton Glass.

Among her many interests, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting and was an avid collector of many items. Lucy loved her pets and all animals. She was a member of the South Hills Athletic Association.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Laurania and Brian McCully of Youngstown, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Carol Brightshue; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne S. Brightshue, Jr. and Charles Brightshue; three sisters, Ella Mathews, Sara Brightshue and Pearl Stephenson; five brothers, Perry Jr., Howard, Harry, Bill and David Christy; and her companion, Joseph Mathews in 2001.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
