Luis's Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Luis V. Allala Jr. at the age of 88 on July 12, 2025.

Born on February 10, 1937, in Cotulla, Texas, to Luis Ayala Sr. and Florencia Valle Ayala, Luis was raised of humble beginnings in a household that emphasized hard work, connection to culture, and family values. He was a man of faith who loved his family, friends and community.

He cherished his family and early on developed a deep love for the ranch life. He was passionate about building a connection to the lands he grew up on and took great pride in growing the double “LL” namesake and establishing the Double LL Ranch. His dream was to see that legacy continue through his three children and future generations.

Luis met the love of his life, Yolanda Reyes, while attending Cotulla High School. They were married on April 7, 1958, and soon relocated to Des Plaines, Illinois, where Luis started a successful multi-generational irrigation business. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to explore various ventures, from real estate investments, restaurant ownership, farming and ranching, to running for local office in his 80s, where he was elected alderman. Through all his endeavors, Luis worked tirelessly to provide for his family and make a positive impact on his community.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Luis was a man of strength, intelligence, generosity, and pride. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. He found joy in creating beautiful gardens for his cherished wife, listening to mariachi music, watching old cowboy movies, and keeping up with the latest land deals on Zillow. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Luis is preceded in death by his parents, Luis Ayala Sr. and Florencia Valle Ayala, his beloved wife, Yolanda Reyes Allala, and his siblings Amador, Jose, Gustavo, Jesus, and Eva Ayala.

He is survived by his three children: Luis Allala III, Linda Rossi (Tony), and Leroy Allala; his grandchildren: Lylianna, Luis IV, Lucinda (Alex), Ricardo (Ricky), Gabriella, and Easton; and his great-grandchildren: Vida, Isla, and Luna. He is also survive by his half siblings, Maria "Lola", Luis Martin, Alfredo and Isaac.

Luis’ memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed.
