Not sure what to say?

Luis-
You didn't tell me you had cancer. ...I'll always remember you my friend. All of our travels together. Venezuela several times; when it was going strong and Chile, all the way down to Puerto Montt. Those were wonderful times. I can hear you say as I write this, "What ever happens, Happens for the Best". ...My friend, you'll be in my thoughts and heart forever.

Sincerely,
Your Friend
Cameron

I remembers the good cigars and good talks with Luis, especially the excellent time spend with him.

I was on vacation and missed the call. I am so sorry.

I got the privilege to meet Papa D with Karen in 1972 when she met Louie at Birch Bay, for the 1st time. Some of the most special times in my life were at parties at Papa and Mama D's house. He was a character and loved to joke with you and we all anticipated when we would get the privilege to hear him sing (later in the evening). We thank him for his unconditional love. He will always hold a special place in Craig's and my heart.

I still remember the day I met him.The Jarshaws had a family party in Juanita ,at their home. It was good time. I only saw him once or twice since then. Every once in awhile I would hear where he was, and what he was doing. He gave me a couple of special Cigars. My employer at that time and I enjoyed those . I'm sorry you lost him. He had full and good life..He made the most out of having to leave his homeland ,,and starting over.I'm proud to have known him.

The positive impact Prez had on his extended family is so evident by the closeness shared by family members. RIP, Prez, you did good in this life!

Luis's Obituary

Luis J. DeArias, 85, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on October 17, 2016, at the Evergreen Hospice Center, in Kirkland, Washington. A private family Celebration Mass will be held on November 26, 2016. Memorial contributions may be made to Group Health Foundation Hospice Fund at http://www.grouphealthfoundation.org/donate .Luis was born in Havana, Cuba on April 4, 1931 to Luis DeArias and Rita Maria DeArias (Montejo). As a young boy, he attended Los Maristas Catholic School and later graduated from El Instituto Edison in Havana, Cuba. He met the love of his life, Yolanda Ana DeArias (Guerrero), at the early age of 7 and rumor has it that they sneaked a kiss on the cheek upon one of their first meetings. After many years of being friends and then dating, they were married on December 21, 1952. Luis started his business career as a sales representative for the Frigidaire Corporation in Cuba and later moved to a management position at Casteleiro y Vizoso selling office equipment. In 1961, after the Castro communist regime took over Cuba, he had the bravery and wisdom to leave all belongings behind and escape with his wife and two sons to Caracas, Venezuela. He was instrumental in helping his sister, brother-in-law and their kids flee Cuba the same year and both set of parents in 1962. In 1966, he moved his family to Seattle, WA as extended family members had settled in the Pacific Northwest. He started Lar-Mac, an office machines business, and later his business career focused on the importation/exportation of goods from the USA and Latin America.Luis loved business and the challenge of the sale. Even after retirement he would seek out other retired executives so that he could reminisce and share business stories. He loved hunting, fishing and music. He enjoyed giving back to the community through participation in the Lyons Clubs and Rotary Organizations in the Seattle area, often dressing up as Santa Claus at Christmas time. But most of all, his passion was his family and spending time with his family and friends. He always had a positive attitude that was contagious and continuously made us all laugh with his witty sense of humor. He went by several names including, Papi, Dad, Abuelo, Tio, Luis and Luisito. But perhaps he will be most remembered as "El Presidente" and "Prez" as he was often referred to by his great grandchildren.Luis is survived by his wife, Yolanda Ana DeArias (Guerrero); his sister, Maria Teresita Pratts (DeArias) and husband Armando; his two sons, Louis DeArias and wife Karen, Ed DeArias and wife Beth; four grandchildren, Jennifer Wade (DeArias) and husband Garrett, Michelle Razore (DeArias) and husband Joe, Eddie DeArias, Aimee DeArias; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Olivia and Logan Wade, Luke, Lilly and Natalie Razore; and his two nieces and nephew, Ana Hergert (Granda) and husband Alan, Ramon Granda and wife Rose, Maria LeCuyer (Granda) and husband Chris. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly.
