I worked with Luis in the baling program and he was a wonderful team player. I am sorry to see he has passed. Condolences to his wife and children.

Luis's Obituary

GATE CITY, VA – LUIS MAYA, AGE 57

 

Luis Maya, age 57 of Gate City, VA peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 following a brief illness. He was born in Celaya, Mexico on August 12, 1967 and was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. Luis was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He was United States Army Veteran having served in Desert Storm.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Melissa Maya; mother, Maximina Haulk of California; daughter, Sarah L. Robinette (Derick) of Michigan; son, Louis Maya, of Gate City, VA; granddaughters, Amberly Robinette and Ariel Robinette; sisters, Maria Brochu of California, Lorena Hernandez of California, Ale Zamudio of California; brothers, Gustavo Maya of California and Rafael Haulk; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Service will follow at 5 PM with Bro. Marvin Egan and Bro. Jerry Begley officiating. Music will be provided by Pine Grove Harmony. A military graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN. American Legion Posts 3/265 will provide military honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to American Legion Post 265, P.O. Box 301, Gate City, VA 24251.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church and Egan Construction for their financial and spiritual support as well as other area churches, family and friends.
