Mike and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Luther. He always had a smile and a kind word to say each and every time we saw him. May God be with Ms. Mary and all the family during this time providing them with comfort and peace. God Bless each of you!

Luther's Obituary

Luther Ray Jackson, of Laurel Hill passed away June 7, 2022. He was born July 25, 1929 in Florala the son of Curtis Jonah Jackson and Lillie Jackson. Luther served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was a veteran of World War II, served 2 tours of duty in Korea and 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons, such as the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army he returned home and worked with his family in the construction business. Luther's family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered their prayers and support during his illness; the comfort he drew from those prayers helped to sustain him on many occasions. He was preceded in death by wife, Marie Barnes Jackson, father, Curtis Jonah Jackson; mother, Lillie Jackson; brothers, Farlin Jackson, Billy Royce Jackson, Jimmy Lee Jackson; sisters, Inez Howard Carroll; Doris Jean Adams; Ila Jane Jowers.

He is survived by wife Mary Watson Jackson, daughter, Kathy Murphy (Deane), stepdaughter, Deedy Lazorko (Brian) stepson, Marc Watson, nephew-son, Bobby Jowers step grandchildren, Brian Gilley, Andrew Murphy (Catharine), Katie Hoganson (Steven), Megan Jones (Dustin) Mary Catherine Watson, Crystal Wells (Jasen), Lily Watson, Penelope Watson, Lyla Gorman, Maverick Jones, Juliet Wells, step great grandchildren, Jonas Hoganson, Crosby Hoganson, Benjamin Gilley, Morgan Gilley, Christian Gilley, step great greatgrandchild, Emmalee Bostick. He is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for Luther Ray Jackson will be 2PM Thursday June 16, 2022 at Evans Funeral home with Reverend Charles Dyess officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Clear Springs Cemetery with full military honors. Our family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Mizell Memorial Hospital for the care they provided Luther during his illness. In lieu of flowers  donations may be made in Luther's Memory to Cancer Freeze, P.O. Box 92, Florala, AL 36442.
