Ecclesiastes 3:1-2To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.
Malcolm was born on a cool Saturday morning, March 15, 1997, to proud parents Mr. Gary R. Charles Sr. and Mrs. Monica Denise Charles. Malcolm Adrian Charles was their sixth and final child. Coincidentally, he was also the youngest in the family. Malcolm’s heart was as big as Texas. He accepted Christ at a young age and became a member here at White Rock M.B.C. under Dr. M.A. Thomas.
While participating in church events like car washes, BBQs, and singing in the choir, Malcolm gained the courage to lead a song, which he was known to sing with conviction and care—called “He Lives”. Malcolm’s Instagram name was “BroHeCanShoot”; as a 2015 graduate of Westfield High School, basketball was more than just a game to him—it was a lifestyle—so we followed him to high school games, A.A.U. tournaments, and even to the N.A.S.A. level at Kingwood Community College under Melvin Marks. Malcolm wasn’t finished yet; he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he later joined the base team and continued shooting from the bottom of the net.
Proverbs 18:22-24 states that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Malcolm found a good thing when he met and married Rakayla, whom is left to mourn his death. The Lord knew what he was doing, and no children were born into this union.
John 13:34A new commandment I give unto you: “Love one another as I have loved you.” He carried his spirit of love through his family and his friends.
Malcolm leaves behind loving and exciting memories of his life for his wife, Rakayla; parents, Mr. and Rev. Gary R., Sr., and Monica D. Charles; grandmother, Helen Moody; brothers, Gary R. Charles Jr., Kendrick A. Charles (Arriana), Damien D. Charles, Sr., Darius D. Charles, Sr., and one sister, Tiffany D. Spears (Gralan). Malcolm loved his nieces and nephews and would go to the moon and back for them: Aven, Klarke, Ralan, Oaklyn, Darius Jr., Darrien, Kai, and Amari. Malcolm also leaves to cherish his memory: godparents, extended family, and a host of friends.
I Corinthians 15:55-57 — carries the principle that Christians live by; that death has lost its power, to harm those who believe in Jesus Christ. At the age of 28, Malcolm passed away at his home in Houston on July 6, 2025. Malcolm was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grandpa Lawrence Charles Sr. (1981) and Grandma Charlotte Charles (2001), as well as his aunts, Karen (2022) and Erica (2021), and his uncles, Lawrence Neal (2020) and Royce Lee (1998).
