Malena Idell Owens

Mrs. Malena Idell Owens, of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on May 17, 1940 in New Florence, Mo, to the late Wesley and Floy Johnson. She had reached the age of 85 years.

Malena was united in marriage to Edward Owens. They enjoyed each other's company before his passing. Malena loved her yard work. More often than not, in the summer months, she could be found on her riding mower, wearing her old ball cap. She also loved her decorative pinwheels. She was known to her family as a fantastic cook. Family or stranger, if you came through her door, you left with a full belly, whether you were hungry or not. She had a deep devotion to family. More often than not, Malena could be found taking in a ball game, play or whatever current extracurricular activity her grandkids were a part of. She also enjoyed her monthly "breakfast with the ladies", consisting of her best friends, Bernice, Marilyn and Penny. When she had quiet time, Malena enjoyed relaxing in her porch swing with a good book. Malena was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a caring and devoted friend.

Malena Owens was preceded in death by her husband Edward; her parents, Wesley and Floy; one son, Mike Garrett; two sisters, and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Debby Turner and husband Ed; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Garrett; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Owenby (Ben), Michael Turner, Daniel Turner (Cheyenne), Megan Polston (Andrew), Dustin Garrett (Emily), Wesley Garrett and Kyle Turner; six great- grandchildren, Izzy, Garrett, Milo, Tucker, Wade and Novel; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation for Malena Owens will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Warrenton from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM, with a committal service immediately following at the Jonesburg City Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.
