Manuel's Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel “Chi-Cho” Esquivel, who left this world on December 22, 2025, at the age of 63. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he was the rock of our family and a man whose hands built not only sidewalks, driveways, homes and businesses but also a legacy of Love, Strength and Dedication.

Born on June 20,1962 in Midland Texas, to Bruno Reyes and Erma M. Esquivel. Chi-Cho discovered his passion for Concrete work at a young age. He began at the age of 15 with his uncles, to later run his own business. He was known by the community for being a loving, caring, and strong family-oriented man. He was a very compassionate and generous man and believed in always helping those in need. Values he passed onto his children and grandchildren. He also had a passion for Harley Davidson, he found a little freedom on two wheels and he was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Win or lose he was a True Blue all his life. Chi- Cho enjoyed to cook on his double pit, whether it was at home for his family to cooking for larger events. He was always eager to cook for fundraisers, family reunions and gatherings. His family was his world, from his wife and kids, grandkids to his extended family. He was well known and loved by many he will be missed and will never be forgotten.

Chi-Cho is survived by his wife of 45 years Sylvia Esquivel, his children Jonathan Heredia, Roseann Esquivel (Joe Wilson), Erica Esquivel (Armando Munoz), his grandchildren Klarissa Rodriguez, Issiah Valenzuela, Joseph Wilson, Jewlius Wilson, Noah Heredia, Emily Reyes, Emerie Reyes, Jossiah Wilson, Abreyela Wilson, his great-grandchildren Naya Valenzuela, Nolan Jimenez, Ryan Jimenez, Mateo Robles. His brothers Mike Esquivel, Rudy “Palio” Esquivel and Johnny Esquivel (Melissa Esquivel). Uncles Emilio Esquivel, Victor Esquivel and Juan Esquivel, aunts Naomi Sotelo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chi-Cho is preceded in death by his mother Erma M. Esquivel, his father Bruno Reyes, brother Shot Esquivel, maternal grandparents Emilio Sr. and Francisca Esquivel, nephew Armando Esquivel, uncles Armando Esquivel and Enrique Esquivel, aunts Carmen E. Romero, Lupe Rangel and Mary Lopez.

Viewing will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home & Chapel located 2508 N. Big Spring Street Midland, TX, Monday December 29, 2025, 12 pm-9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held Tuesday December 30, 2025 at 10 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, located at 1401 Garden Lane, Midland, TX. Followed by Burial Services will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. 

Honorary Pallbearers Jossiah Wilson, Jewlius Wilson, Joe Wilson.  Pallbearers Issiah Valenzuela, Joseph Wilson, Noah Heredia, Stephen Esquivel, Mundo Romero, Mark Esquivel, Herman Sotelo and Robert Munoz.
