Marcel Louis Eyraud, of Walla Walla, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024; he was 95.
Marcel was born November 1, 1928, in La Motte-en-Champsaur, France, to Marius and Anna (Escalle). Marcel served in the French army after WWII and was a member of the elite group of mountaineer scouts called "Eclaireur Skieur." He immigrated to the United States and settled in southeastern Washington, originally working for farming and sheep ranching relatives before beginning a career with the Forest Service, serving as the Snow Ranger for Spout Springs, and creating the Jubilee Lake Campground. Marcel loved skiing.
In 1951 he married Lorraine Aubert and enjoyed taking his family back to France as often as possible, with his most recent trip back in 2017. He loved drinking Pastis with his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, American football (Go Cowboys!), a little gambling and keeping active for as long as he could.
He is preceded to his eternal rest by his parents Marius and Anna, his wife Lorraine (Aubert), his son Roger and granddaughter Madeleine. Marcel is survived by his son Marc (Shelley Smith), daughter Annette (Anton Loggen), and three grandchildren: Sophia, Annabelle, and AJ Loggen.
