Marcus's Obituary

Marcus Earl Spencer Sr. departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Springfield Memorial. He was born on November 5, 1985,  in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Dawn Spencer, Maggie Helm and Irene Lacy.

Marcus previously worked at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. Marcus enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to make everyone laugh and wanted to see everyone having a good time. Marcus had a very contagious smile and laugh!

Marcus enjoyed boxing for Coach Howell as a teenager and playing football at Springfield High School where he graduated from in 2004. He also enjoyed going to the south, Lexington, Mississippi, where he spent some of his early years with his twin, Mark, his mother, Irene and Grandma Mag.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dawn Marie Spencer, his father Donald Maurice Womack, his maternal grandfather Jessie Lacy, his maternal great grandmother Maggie Helm-Lacy, his younger brother Steven Spencer and his younger sister Doniesha Monique Womack, and three great uncles and one great aunt. His paternal grandfather;William Womack and grandmother; Wardella Womack.

He leaves to cherish memories his sons, JaZari Marcus Allen Spencer of Colorado Springs, CO, Malamashian Leachman of Springfield, IL, Zyejerion Anthony of Springfield, IL, Marcus Earl Spencer Jr. of Springfield, IL, Kitai Prince Marcus Spencer of Springfield, IL. He also leaves to cherish his passing his mother, Irene Lacy of Springfield, IL, brothers; Mark Spencer of Springfield, IL, Antwan Walker of Springfield, IL, Donald Jr. and Donte Womack of Springfield, IL, his sisters; Maxine Austin of Springfield, IL, Katie Lacy of Springfield, IL, Lavonta, Whitney and Nadeja Malone of Springfield, IL, Domesha, Dalona and Monae Womack of Springfield, IL, Brittany and Tameka Ross of Chicago, IL. Grandmother; Ethel Spencer of Springfield, IL. He will be greatly missed by special aunts, uncles, cousins and tons and tons of loving friends.
