Margaret Louise Clay, daughter of Ms. Ophelia Jones (Russell) and the late Thomas Preston Embry, Sr., was born on November 18, 1951, in Lexington, Kentucky. On January 13, 2024, Margaret’s name was called upon by the Lord, and she departed this life on Earth to take her final rest with our Lord and Savior.She attended Douglass High School in Lexington, Kentucky, and worked in hospitality for many years. Margaret, who was often affectionately referred to as “Mama Louise” by those who loved her. She was a familiar face, a safe place, and a “bonus mother/granny” to so many in her community. She was a devoted mother, granny, sister, niece, aunt, and friend whose wise words in life lessons and big heart impacted all that knew her. To know Margaret was to love her. Margaret’s pride and joy were her three children, the late Marvelta, Antonio, and LaTresica. Margaret had fourteen grandchildren, Marquis, Samayra, Rashaan, Trayjon, Jacoby, Mason, Brooklyn, Jaemison, Rhylan, Zariah, Landon, RiCari, Robert, and her bonus grandson, Myles Morones, who she loved dearly. The bond with her family and friends will forever be cherished and will remain in the hearts of all who embraced her. Margaret left this Earth with many life- long special friends, Jackie Hammons, Sandra Hill, Barbara Edwards, Beverly Jackson, Tamara Guyton, Geneva Hayes, Kivvi Figgs, Gwendolyn Alcorn, Vicki Wilhite, and family that will forever love her.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marvelta Clay; sister, Vondale Carter Ward; brother, Howard Jones; maternal grandparents, Margaret Josephine Clay and Louis Madison Clay; and paternal grandparents, Willie Mae Spencer and Clarence Johnson Hayes, Sr.Left to cherish her memory are: her mother, Ophelia Jones of Lexington, KY; son, Antonio (Brandie) Clay of Lexington, KY; daughter, LaTresica (Robert) Clay of Lexington, KY; six sisters, Anna, Lillian, Martha, Virginia, Felicia, and Sunserria; six brothers, Russell Jr., Louis, Edwin, Thomas, Derrick, and Donny; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other special relatives and friends.
