Ms. Margaretta S. Comvalius of 163-35 130th Avenue, Jamaica Queens, New York, departed this life and entered into eternal life with our Lord on May 5, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth Francis and Nathaniel Joseph Francis. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Theodore M. Francis and Michael Francis, Sr.; sisters, Collinette Francis and Linda McCullough, and devoted companion, John Stokes.Left to cherish her memories is her sister, Karen Lide (Ike); sons, Andre Francis (Doreen) and Laurence Comvalius (Kristi); granddaughters, Christinena Morman, Ann Morman, Dafina Allen, Lauren Thompson, Amaya Comvalius, and Laila Comvalius; great grandchildren, Ja’Monie Pettaway, Ja’Kyla Pettaway, Daquan Freeman Jr., Nyhla Coleman, Zinai’ya Weston, Kamaren Weston, Qhloe Brown, and London Brown; devoted nephews, Paul Francis (Carol), Michael Francis, Jr., Alphonso Lide, and Antoine Beasley; beloved nieces, Lynn Delossantos, Victoria Francis, and Tonya King (Donnie); close cousin, Alice Walker and life-time friends, Shirley McNeil and Beryl McFarlane, and a host of great nephews and nieces.Margaretta was born June 8, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. She completed both high school and college studies and made a career with the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years and performed a range of positions in the Tax Payer Service Division. She served in roles as a Representative, Specialist, and Manager then ended her career as a Revenue Officer. She was active in the community and often shared tax preparation advice on local television during tax season. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games on her Kindle, traveling, and cooking. Some of her favorite travel destinations were Brazil and Hawaii.Margaretta will always be remembered for having a strong work ethic, organized, and the foundation for her family.
Services for Mrs. Margaretta Comvalius will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Higher Way Ministries, 515 Virginia Avenue, Petersburg, Va., Bishop Darren L. Gay, Sr., Pastor and Pastor Eddie Worrell, eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.The family will assemble 11:00 A.M. the day of the service and will receive friends at 3749 Argent Lane, North Chesterfield, Va.
