Margie's Obituary

ALTENDAHL, Margie, 96, of Dayton, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2018. She was born to C.E. & Mattie Brown on Sept. 13, 1922 in Mill Springs, Kentucky. Margie was a member of Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church and served our country in the Women's Army Corps during WWII. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a commissioned Kentucky Colonel. Margie enjoyed sewing quilts for all, including donating baby quilts to the Dayton Childrens Medical Center, for many years.

 

Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Henry Altendahl (2004), her granddaughter, Jennifer Scott, and her siblings, Homer, Robert, James & Dorothy.

 

Survived by 3 daughters, Linda Greilick (Tom), Janice Altendahl (Denny), Teri Scott (Jerry); grandchildren, Kevin (Kimberly), Kelly, Amber, Don, Cyndi & John; many great & great great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Shoemaker (James); special niece, Eileen Brown (Cressel); sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Cy); special friends, Mark & Mary Kucharski, Ruth Hirt & Deacon Skip Royer. The family would like to thank the staff at Elmcroft of Washington Twp. & Ohio's Hospice of Dayton for their loving care.

 

Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at Queen of Martyrs Church, 4134 Cedar Ridge Rd., Dayton, OH 45414. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, “Northridge Chapel,” 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elmcroft of Washington Twp. Activities Fund to continue the activities Margie so enjoyed, or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
