Maria's Obituary

Maria L. (Dix) Schellenbach, a resident of Reading for 64 years, passed away on January 27, 2025, at the Winchester Nursing Center in Winchester, Massachusetts.  She was 93 years of age.

Maria was born in Los Angeles, California on September 2, 1931, the daughter of the late Moe and Luisa (Jimenez) Dix.  Maria attended the University of California to become a language teacher.  She worked as a respiratory therapist, caring for people in many local hospitals and their homes throughout the North Shore.  She proudly served our country and was Honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.

She loved to play contract bridge, becoming a master player and enjoying tournaments locally and abroad.  She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons play baseball and basketball. She enjoyed skiing, swimming, and golfing.  She was a loving mother who was ready to help others.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Richard R. Schellenbach.  Devoted mother of Robert K. Schellenbach and his wife Susan of Reading, Denise N. Pothier of Reading and Richard C. Schellenbach of Nashua, NH.  She was the loving grandmother of Sutton, Craig, Cory and Eric.

A private graveside family service will be held to honor her life .
