I am so sad to hear of Marian´s passing. I was very lucky to have known her and all the Duchon family. May she rest in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father waiting for her at the gates of heaven I´m sure you have precious memories that will remain with you forever.

Len and I send all cousins and family members our love and sympathy. Our hearts are heavy for this loss. We loved Aunt Marian so much. She was the glue that held all the cousins together. Marian's Obituaries

Marian Frances (Kaminski) Duchon, age 99, of Manistee, MI passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 24, 1924 in Manistee, MI daughter of the late Michael and Blanche C. (Witucki) Kaminski.  Marian married Stephen T. Duchon on August 31, 1946 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee, Michigan. They celebrated over sixty years of marriage together, before Stephen’s death on November 9, 2006. Since she was a young woman, her working career has been with several bakeries in the Manistee area until her retirement from Eberhards Grocery Store. She had also worked at Madison School as an aide. She was a loving mother of six children; Involved in their lives through school, church and prayers. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends. When people would ask if she will celebrate a special occasion, her response would be “With a big family” – “every day is a celebration”. She was very proud that her six children, all had twelve years of Catholic education. Marian had a lifetime of many acts of kindness for her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Music and dancing brought her much joy in her life. Marian enjoyed and was a avid Detroit Tiger fan.

She was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish of Manistee (St. Joseph Catholic Church), the St. Joseph Rosary Society, where she was honored this year for being a seventy-five-year member, the Manistee Catholic Central Moms Club, the Catholic War Veterans Stephen T. Duchon Post – Auxiliary, the Michigan National Guard Auxiliary. Marian was a loyal MCC supporter and was inducted into the MCC Hall of Fame in 2011 and honored as Ferris State University Football Most Loyal Parents in 1976.

She is survived by her sons and daughter’s in-law, Daniel and Judy Duchon, Jerry and Linda Duchon, Stephen C. and Janet Duchon and Allan J. and Amy Duchon, two daughters and a son in-law, Mary Lou Rozmarek and Susan and James Espvik, fourteen grandchildren, Erica (Mike) Thurman, Shelley (Kenn) Kott, Renee (Garvin) Yorton, Christopher (Lindsey) Duchon, Joseph (Christie) Duchon, Courtney Duchon, Jacqueline (Joel) Dante, Steven F. Duchon (Brant Raterink), Evan (Amber) Jach, Erica (Matthew) Snyder, Jillian (Matt) Leinberger, Andrew J. Espvik (Nancy Neilsen), Alex Duchon, and Adam Duchon, twenty-four great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, three sisters in-law, Elaine Kaminski, June Dufon and Virginia Dufon. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.  

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen T. Duchon in 2006, her son-in-law, David A. Rozmarek in 2021, her parents, Michael and Blanche Kaminski, her brothers and sister’s in-law, Leonard and Violet Kaminski, Jerome Kaminski, David and Patricia Kaminski and her father-in-law and mother- in-law, John and Mary Duchon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Richard Bartoszek celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.

Relatives, friends and the members of the Divine Mercy Rosary Society will pray the Rosary on Friday evening, August 2, 2024 at 7:30 pm, at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where the Evening Vigil Service will be prayed at 8:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until leaving for the church at 10:40 am.

Memorials will be established in Marian’s name for Divine Mercy Parish and the Manistee Catholic Central Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
