Pooh I know for sure you're at peace now. I can still here you saying to me, 'what you doing Lil Girl '. I will continue to try to do what you asked of me several times before your death. But it's been hard, but I will try a little while longer. Continue to rest in peace Mother.

Mrs Marie Nemo u were loved by many and you'll be missed by all of us. Now that you've gained ur wings and are sitting at the right hand of our Lord & Savior, fly around Heaven and tell Mrs Arvella W Smith that we miss her more and more every day, so until we all meet again in Heaven u will be missed

Marie's Obituary

Marie Elizabeth Nemo, 77, transitioned August 14, 2024, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was born August 13,1947, in Roanoke, VA to the late John H. and Evelyn Smith, Sr.

Marie attended Roanoke City Public Schools. In 1977, Marie met the love of her life, Ralph “Bobby” Nemo. They married in 1978 and to this union one child was born, Ralph “Stinkpot” Nemo II. They remained married for 42 years until he went to his heavenly home in 2020. 

Marie was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Ralph C. Nemo, sisters, Lucy Mae Johnson, Josephine Smith and Donna Goodrich, brothers Curtis Anderson, John H. Smith, Jr, along with several aunts/uncles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Debbie A. Smith, Tyrone (Cynthia) Smith, Nicole R. Smith and Ralph (Brittany) C. Nemo II. Stepson Jermaine (Shamiko) L. Hall, (8) grandchildren: Leucreshia (Robert) Mack, Lateshia Smith, Kiawanna (Corey) Poindexter, Tyneshia Bruce, Tymon Smith, Malia Nemo, Alexia Nemo, La’Mon Mutz Nemo, (12) Great grandchildren, including Genesis, Sveyn and Kavonte’, whom she had a special relationship with, and one Uncle, Albern (Sarah)Williams. Sisters: Arlene Scales, Jeanne Scales, Shirlene Smith, Darlene Smith. Brothers: Arthur “Popeye” Williams, James “Tony” Williams (Deltona, FL), Freddie Scales (Charlotte, NC), James Scales (Columbus, GA), Andrew “Lil Man” (Judy) Smith, and James “Big Man” (Jacynthia) Smith. Sisters-In-Law: Barbara Swain and KathleenPreston-Davis, Brother-In Law: James Allen Johnson, One Uncle: Albert (Sarah) Williams. Special mention to nieces: Tonya Smith and Angela Smith, special cousins: Phyllis McGeorge, who was more like a sister, Mark “Hamm” Smith, and Amazetta Anderson, a dear family friend and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, 2:00PM at Serenity. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
