May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. My deceased husband, Ervin Brantley, worked many years with Jack. He always spoke very highly of him.

Marion "Jack"'s Obituary

Marion Jackson “Jack” Mathews III, 84, of Pensacola, FL, passed away at home on Monday, May 28, 2018.

Jack was born in Jackson, AL in 1933. He was a graduate of Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL. He married Martha Jo McLendon and moved to Pensacola, FL where he was employed by Chemstrand (Monsanto). His career lasted for more than forty years. He obtained several patents and retired as a Senior Research Specialist. He was a member of The American Chemical Society and Optimist Club. He was a founding member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Jack was involved in many capacities with the church and school over the years. He served as a Sacristan for school and Sunday mass. After retiring, Jack volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital, Washburn Center, and the Haven of Our Lady of Peace. Jack was an avid Alabama fan and supporter of Pensacola Catholic High.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jack IV, and his parents, M.J. and Martiel Mathews.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jo; son, Greg (Leslie) Mathews; three daughters, Connie (Tom) McMaster, Robin (Richard) Brown, and Betsy (Rick) Kilpatrick; as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Craig Smith celebrant. Graveside Service will be 11:00am Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson, AL.

Active Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
