Marivene F. Slemp, age 92 passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, VA.
Marivene was born in Grayson County, VA, to the late Harold D. Fox and Lucille Delp Fox. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John D. Bryant and her son in law David A. Parker. A dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion, she retired from Belk's, where she worked as a division manager. She enjoyed singing in the Joyful Noise Choir and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Marivene volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America, proudly serving as the district coordinator.
Survivors include her husband, Abe Slemp; two daughters, Susan Bryant Massey and husband Thomas, Nancy Bryant Parker; grandchildren, Brooke Miller, Michael Massey, Katherine Massey, Ryan Parker; great grandchildren, Meghan, Gavin, Erin; great great grandchildren, Oliver and Elowyn; extended family, Dan and Kim Slemp, Terri and Joe Blankenship, Beth and Monty Fleshman and their children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on April 26, 2025 at 1PM at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. James Bennington officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 115 S. Church St. Marion, VA 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Home is serving the family.
