Mrs. Bartlett was one of my favorite teachers - 1st grade at North Primary School in the mid-1950's. I used to run into her from time to time, and it amazed me that she always remembered me! Heaven has gained a special angel.

Marjorie's Obituary

Bath – Marjorie Powers Bartlett, 101, of Bath, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 at the Freeport Nursing Home in Freeport. She was born in Bath on April 5, 1911 the daughter of Carl and Arline (Powers) Troop. Marjorie grew up in Bath, graduating from Morse High School, valedictorian class of 1928. She then went on to Lesley College in Massachusetts graduating with a teaching degree.Marjorie married her best friend Charles S. Bartlett in 1934 and the couple resided in Bath to raise their family.Mrs. Bartlett, known to most 1st graders, was a teacher for the Bath school system. She taught at South Street School for many years, Center Street School, and retiring in 1972 from Dike Newell School.Marjorie was a wonderful person who loved life. Shaping new minds was a passion within her. She always looked forward to meeting her children every year. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, knitting and gardening. She always looked forward to dining out with her friends and playing Bridge. She loved to dance and traveling was something she really enjoyed.Marjorie was a life member of the Bath Teachers Club, Bath-Brunswick Retired Teachers, Maine Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association. She was also a life member of the Bath Area Senior Citizens and a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church.She will be sadly missed by all those that loved her.She is predeceased by her husband Charles in 1988She leaves behind her daughter Susanne Purdy and her husband Ronald of West Bath, a grand daughter, Marcia Gustafson and her husband Timothy of Bath and two great-grandchildren Kyle and Kelci.A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10th, 2012 at 11:00am at the David E.
