Marjorie Botimer
Frankenmuth, MI
Marjorie (Brasseur) Botimer passed away Wednesday February 10, 2021 at home surrounded by her girls after a brief illness; age 91 years. Marjorie (Marge) was born on December 5, 1929 in Indian River, MI to the late Herb and Lydia Brasseur. Marge enrolled in St. Mary’s nursing school at the age of 17. On a break from school and back in Indian River she met the man of her dreams, Donald (Don) Botimer. They were married on May 26th, 1951 and enjoyed almost 50 years of adventures together, until Don’s passing in 2000.
Marge began her nursing career working in Frankenmuth for Dr. Brender, then moved on to working the ER at both St. Mary’s and Saginaw General. Dr. Skowronski offered her a job in his private practice allowing perfect office hours to raise her family. She became part of the Steering Gear medical team until her retirement from nursing. Finally, she worked part time at the Frankenmuth Wickson Library for many years.
Don and Marge were self-taught sailors and explored the waters of Saginaw Bay. In 1965 they bought a wooden sailboat and sailed around Lake Huron exploring both the Michigan and Canadian shores. Each summer two weeks were reserved for family sailing adventures giving the family many memories to cherish. Always the explorers, they took two weeks each fall to experience the Canadian Rockies.
Surviving to tell their amazing love stories are their daughters Deborah (Larry) Schluckebier of Frankenmuth, Donna (John) Botimer-Perkins of Munger, and Denise Barbier of the U.S. Virgin Islands. She is also survived by five grandchildren Jeffery (Theresa) Schluckebier, Janelle (Cory) Hall, Justin Botimer, Marjie Fernandez, and Nicole (Coco) Barbier. Along with five great grandchildren Ryan Castle, Jeremy Schluckebier, Brenden Schluckebier, Alaia Fernandez, and Lydia Hall. Marge also leaves behind her sister Ione Brown and brother Tom Brasseur, plus many nieces, nephews, and amazing, amazing, friends!
A private celebration of life will be held at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wellspring Lutheran Services, the Frankenmuth Wickson Library, or the St. Lorenz Media Ministry.
