In Loving Memory of Marjorie Ann Weeg
March 29, 1938 – February 15, 2025
With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for her life, we remember Marjorie Ann Weeg, who departed this life on February 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Surrounded by family, she peacefully joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on March 29, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to James and Gladys Gallagher, Marj was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and selfless dedication. She spent her life in Sioux Falls and Lake Herman, South Dakota, where she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished traditions.
On May 4, 1957, Marj married the love of her life, Wayne Weeg, and together they built a life rich with adventure, faith, and family. Their love story spanned decades, filled with travels across the U.S., Ireland, and the Bahamas, and countless memories made with loved ones.
Marj dedicated her career to serving others, working as a science teacher aide for the Sioux Falls School District and as a farm insurance underwriter at American States Insurance Company and Milwaukee Insurance Company. But her true passion was always her family.
A woman of remarkable strength, Marj faced life's challenges with resilience and grace. Despite enduring health struggles, she remained the strongest person we knew, always greeting each day with a smile. She found joy in baking, sewing, crafting, and fishing, but her greatest love was bringing people together. Her home was a haven—a place where family and friends gathered to celebrate holidays, share laughter, and create lasting memories. Summers at the lake were filled with bonfires, fireworks, and the beauty of South Dakota sunsets, moments that will be forever treasured.
Marj’s greatest blessings were her children:Peggy (Robert) Souvignier of Harrisburg, Patty (Don) Kettwig of Marion, Penny (Dave) Tebben of Story City, Iowa, Michael (Karin) Weeg of Harrisburg, Michelle (Stuart) Paulsness of Baltic, and Mari Anne (James) Riley of Austin, Minnesota.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to 21 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 31 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear brothers, James (Sheeran) Gallagher and John (Anna) Gallagher.
She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Wayne, her parents, and her grandson Jonathan Paulsness.
Marj’s legacy of faith, love, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the joy she brought to so many.
Until we meet again, Marj, your love and light will shine in our hearts forever.
