Mark Roman Levitzke, of Kimberling City, Mo., beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026.Mark was born on Dec. 31, 1954, in Chicago, Ill., and lived a life full of adventure, laughs, and a diehard fandom for his beloved Cubbies and Blackhawks.But what Mark loved most in his life was his family: his late wife, Janet Levitzke, and son, Maxwell Levitzke. They spent many cherished weekends together traveling for Max’s hockey tournaments, often with Mark serving as coach. Nobody who ever met Mark could forget him. He seemed to have a story for almost any situation, and he spent many lakeside evenings holding court, sharing his experiences with guests who arrived as strangers and left as friends. Mark enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family and friends, jamming out to Led Zeppelin, and relaxing on the back deck or by the lake with his dog Lilly. With his warm personality and loud sense of humor, he had a unique ability to make friends with anyone, anywhere. It wasn’t uncommon that a five-minute Harter House run could last 50 minutes because he was catching up with friends new and old.Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet (Anderson) Levitzke, parents, Roman and Elizabeth Levitzke, both from Chicago, Ill., and his younger brother Michael, of Elgin, Ill.Those dearly missing him include his son, Maxwell Levitzke (Kylie Hennagin); younger sister Mary (Joseph) Giangrasso; sisters-in-law, Donna Levitzke and Joyce Anderson; nieces and nephews, Joey Giangrasso (Elizabeth), Marisa (Nathan) Hentis, Michael (Alex) Levitzke Jr., Matt Levitzke (Marcella), Nicole Lawniczak (John); and several grand nieces and nephews.A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to Ozarks Food Harvest, where Mark’s love of food can live on in the hearts (and stomachs) of the community. The family appreciates the love and support as they grieve his absence. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Cremation was under care of Stumpff Funeral Home
