My heartfelt sympathy to Mark’s family and friends. He brightened so many lives and held a special place in countless hearts. He will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this time of loss and healing.

I was devastated to hear about Mark's death. I am sorry for the shock and grief you are experiencing. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. Judy was a dear friend. She spoked highly of her family. Keeping all of you in my prayers.

Mark's Obituary

Mark J. Simon  58, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Estero, Florida.

Visitation for Mark will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2025,  at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.  Visitation will also continue after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd at the church.

A Celebration of Life/Funeral Service for Mark will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding.  A private family burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade.

Mark was born August 1, 1967 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Merlin and Judith (Burgmeyer) Simon.  He is a 1985 graduate of Cascade High School.  He attended DMACC and Howard Community College.  On November 23, 1991, he was united in marriage to Christina (Tina) L. Sauser at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.

Mark along with his two brothers own and operate American Iowa Manufacturing (AIM) that was founded by his father and mother. As the Vice President of AIM, he was quite mechanically talented and handled all the assembly line operations.

He had a great love for the game of baseball. Mark played for the Cascade Reds and continued giving them support through the years, as the Ground Crew Manager. He organized many field improvements at Cascade American Legion Field; this past year he added a new back stop to the field.  Mark was a very devoted father coaching and supporting his kids in sports over the years.

He loved snowmobiling, was an avid golfer, and auto enthusiast.  He was a fan of the Yankees, the Cowboys, and the Hawkeyes. He loved tailgating for the Hawkeyes with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his three dogs, Major, Nitro, and Baker.

He is a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa.

He is survived by his two sons, Bryce (Regann) Simon, Brock Simon; and his daughter, Jordan (& her friend, Nolan) Simon all of Cascade, IA; his siblings, Dave (Dana) Simon and Shane (Patti) Simon both of Cascade, IA; his father-in-law, Patrick “Stump” Sauser of Cascade, IA; one sister-in-law, Dawn (Nate) Otting of Cascade, IA; a brother-in-law, Todd Sauser of Davenport, IA; and his ten nephews, Dilan, Carter, Tanner, Travis, Chase Simon, Evan and Blake Simon, and Logan, Mason, and Brody Otting; a great-niece and his friend, Shelly Nosbish. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Tina Simon; his parents, Merlin and Judith Simon; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Sauser; and his grandparents.
