Marlene was a sweet lady. I have memories of going to her home beauty shop with my mom, Faye, as a child. I am praying comfort for this family with the loss of Penny as well.

Marlene Steffens, age 85, of Stockton, IL passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Allure of Mt. Carroll. She was born in Freeport, IL on August 1, 1940 to the late Walter and Hedwig (Mueller) Keller. Marlene married Burdelle “Fuzzy” Steffens on September 30, 1961. Fuzzy passed away July 21, 2017.
Marlene was a 1958 graduate of Lena-Winslow High School and Sterling School of Beauty Culture. She worked as a beautician for over 60 years. Marlene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lena, church and community choirs, bell choir at church, and Concordia Women’s Group.
She is survived by her son, Lee (Eugenia) Steffens of Shoreview, MN; her son-in-law, Rick Duchow of Stockton; her grandchildren, Katelyn (Daniel) Washburn of Forest Lake, MN, Randall (Tiffanie) Duchow of Stockton, Jonathan (Laura) Steffens of Duluth, MN, and Rebecca (Matt) Mott of Rio Rico, AZ; her great grandson, Robert Duchow of Stockton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burdelle “Fuzzy”; her daughter, Penny Duchow; her sister, Ruth; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lena at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
