Martha I. Baughman

A funeral service for Martha I. Baughman, 99 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Vensil & Chute | Newark with Brother Matthew Swartz officiating.  Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Baughman passed away Saturday morning, August 16, 2025 at Altercare Newark North.  She was born in Newark May 16, 1926 to the late James Franklin and Mary Ann (Davis) Claggett.  A graduate of Bladensburg High School, Mrs. Baughman worked as a cook for Lakewood Schools.  

She was a devoted member of the Bladensburg Church of God.  She loved to cook and also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include  her children, Robert (Patty) Baughman, Donald Baughman, David (Valerie) Baughman, Mary Ann (David) Minnich, Barbara (Jim) Noel and Debbie (David) Barber; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest R. Baughman, April 21, 1997; and seven brothers and sister.

Calling hours will be two hours prior to the service Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.  at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
