Marty was so nice to me whenever I saw him and he was funny and also was the best grandpa to my sons.

Goodbye for now my sweet little brother. I loved "mothering" you when you were little. We called you "cotton top" because of your really blond hair" with your big brown eyes. I have always loved you. 'Til we meet again ❤❤❤❤ Marie

Marty Liddell Oviatt loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend passed away peacefully and returned to his Heavenly home on the morning of March 24, 2025, in Salt Lake City, UT with his loving wife Colleen by his side, after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Marty was born in Price, UT on March 29, 1952, and was the fourth child of Theron and Barbara Oviatt, who had five children. He lived on a farm in Price for the first eight years of his life, surrounded by grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. He had lots of room to explore and loved playing sports, spending time with family and helping with farm chores.
In 1960 Marty's family moved to Brigham City, UT. It was hard to leave extended family, but he made new friends and enjoyed his new home. He attended Box Elder High School and played baseball and football and graduated in 1970.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard. He did his basic training at Fort Campbell, KY and graduated in February, 1971. He was a specialist in artillery and went on to fulfill many other roles in his military service, including; intelligence analysis, aviation operations, and fire support. He served in Afghanistan from 2004-2005. He served for 40 years and retired as a Staff Sergeant First Class. He retired in 2011.
He met Colleen Fisher, his sweetheart of 30 years, through friends and love of Utah football. They became friends during tail gating parties and their shared love of car shows and culinary delights. Colleen and Marty got married January 12, 1996, in Sandy, UT. Colleen and Marty blended their family. Colleen brought three sons to the marriage and Marty brought one daughter and one son. They started their life together in Sandy, UT. One year later they were sealed in the Jordan River Utah Temple.
In 1999 Marty and Colleen looked for a place they could own horses and enjoy their love of the outdoors and horseback riding. Their search brought them to Riverton, UT. They spent the next few decades together spending time with their animals, kids and grandkids. When he wasn't working, you could always find him improving their place, golfing or enjoying sports (live or on TV.)
After Marty's Alzheimer's diagnosis, he was surrounded by the love of friends and family. Colleen is incredibly grateful to the caregivers and VA staff for all they did for Marty. Marty is survived by his wife Colleen, his son Cody Oviatt (Mirela), daughter Krystle Oviatt, stepsons; Jeremy Jacobs, Justin Jacobs (Emily) and Daniel Fisher, siblings; Jim Oviatt (Janice), Marie Popp (Brent), Melissa Wilson (Steve), and 10 grandchildren.
