I loved Marty from the instant I met him thru Diane. My condolences to all his friends and family.

He could bring out the best in anyone and tell a funny story about something that happened like no other. You left us too soon buddy. Like many others, I will miss you my friend.

Martin's Obituaries

Eliot – Martin Joseph Sakevich, 67, of Eliot, passed away on November 4, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Martin was born on January 14, 1951 in Scranton Pennsylvania, the son of August Sakevich and Margaret Gaynor. He attended West Scranton High School, and served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. After the war he settled in Eliot Maine and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, for over 30 years.

Marty was a member of the Elks Club, he enjoyed cooking, and loved animals, especially his dog Zeus. He loved to spend time with family and friends at his camp on Salisbury beach. He had an infectious laugh that will be missed by all that knew him.

Marty is survived by his wife Diane, His daughter Katie and her husband Robert Hebden, his step daughters Jennifer Drouin, Mallary McGraw, and Amber McGraw, a sister Sharon and her husband John Malindzak, grandchildren Alexa, Collin, Olivia, Robby, Jake, Addaline, Warren, Charlee, and Gage, nieces Shannon and Noelle.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday November 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm at J Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad street, Portsmouth. A gathering to follow at The Navy Yard Bar and Billiard’s in Kittery, ME.  For online condolences please go to www.jvwoodfuneralhome.com.
