Marvin Crews and his family were dear friends of the Larry Sheppard family, Marvin was a sweet and wonderful man, he will be missed by many!

Marvin Edward Crews, Sr., 93, of Harris City passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Warm Springs Nursing Home. Funeral Services for Mr. Crews will be held 8:00 PM Monday evening at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 6-8 pm.Mr. Crews was born December 15, 1921 in Meriwether County the son of the late Mary Jane Pearson Crews and John Tyler Crews. He worked most of his life in the textile industry having been employed by Scottdale Mills in Decatur, GA and Callaway Mills in Manchester. He had also worked for McDougal Construction Company in Atlanta during the 1950s. Mr. Crews was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Woodbury and a former member of Harris City Baptist Church.Mr. Crews is survived by his children, Betty Sue (Bobby Joe) German of McCaysville, GA, Johnny B. (Brenda) Crews of Warm Springs, Kathy (Howard) Waites of Athens, GA, James (Sandra) Crews of Greenville, GA, Sheila (James) Rutland of North Augusta, SC, and Kenneth Crews of North Augusta, SC; preceded in death by one son, Marvin E. Crews, Jr.; one brother, Felton P. (Lois) Crews, of Grayson, GA; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 9 great- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, in charge of arrangements.
