Not sure what to say?

I have wonderful memories of celebrating holidays at his parents house with him and the family when I was younger. May his memory be a blessing.

Marvin was a gem. He and Phyllis were some of my parents closest friends. The Sandweiss’s are just the most down to earth good people and that was Marvin. I think of Marvin and I think of the J. He was always there from my memory as a kid. I remember thinking he lived there. When my dad went to the nursing home, many friends somehow became busy and didn’t have time to see my dad. Marvin and Phyllis came to visit often, just the true friends they were. Life comes full circle, on 2020 just...

Steve, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

Tracy, please accept my deepest sympathies. Prayers for you and your family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My sympathy to the entire family as they deal with their loss. Marvin was a wonderful human and as mentioned a great athlete. Played many games of Volleyball with Marvin at the J though was never able to win against him. His relationship with Nick was so very special and showed the true character of Marvin.

Steve and Family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope your memories will bring you comfort and peace.

Marvin's Obituary

Marvin Sandweiss passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021 at the age of 85.  Beloved husband of 65 years to his middle school sweetheart Phyllis Sandweiss; son of the late Nat and Bernice Sandweiss. Loving father to Bruce (Caryn) Sandweiss, Tracy (Paul) Mellring, Steve (Joyce) Sandweiss; “Pawpy” to Lauren (Jeremy) Brenner, Jeremy (Stephanie) Levinson, Sydney Stein, Jacob Sandweiss, Nick, Megan and Matthew Mellring, Sarabeth, Nato and Zosia Sandweiss; great grandfather to Max and Ari Brenner, Callie Rose Levinson and Noah Stein.  Brother-in-law to Barbara and Norman Hausfater, Rick (the late Mimi) Schuchet, Margo and Frank Miskit.  Marvin will be missed by his family and many life-long close friends.

He was the founder and owner of Midwest Recovery Services and Midwest Autobody until his retirement at age 70.  Marvin was a great athlete and played on traveling volleyball and softball teams until he was 62 years old, often with teammates much younger than him.  He was also a card enthusiast his whole life, spending many days playing gin rummy at the “J”, where he was a fixture, and countless nights of poker with his many friends.

Marvin will be remembered by many during the last 29 years for his never-ending love, devotion and caring for grandson Nick, his constant companion. Being Nick’s guardian angel gave special meaning and purpose to Marvin’s life.
