Not sure what to say?

A sigh can hide the sadness, a smile can hide the tears ,but nothing can erase the memories of the one you hold so dear. Missing you my friend Mary.

Grandma, I will always remember the times we shared, especially during the Holidays, full of numerous laughs and great food. It is hard to see you go but I know Grandpa was waiting for you. Thank you both for being the best Grandparents a kid could ask for.

Dear Lou and Family

I am so sorry for the passing of your mom. Your Mom fought a tough battle and we know she is in a better place. I am sure Elio was waiting for his Mary. Please know you have our deepest sympathy. Remember a mother is always with us, first in our lifetime, then forever in our memory.

Much peace during this time.

Love,

Chris, Annie, Brianna and Caitlin

Mary was born in 1932 in the Peterstown section of Elizabeth, N.J., where she was raised by her parents, Adele and Dominic Morbiducci, together with her younger brother, Anthony. A graduate of Battin High School, she worked as a secretary at Singer Corporation until marrying Elio Bani in 1953. Mary and Elio raised their children, Richard, Louis and Catherine, in the North End section of Elizabeth and were active members of Blessed Sacrament Parish including the Choir, Rosary Society and Holy Name Society.

Mary devoted her life to raising her family and caring for her parents. When the youngest of her three children attended elementary school at Elizabeth’s Madison-Monroe, School #16, she worked at the school as an aide. She returned to office work as a customer service representative at the Sears Logistics Warehouse in Elizabeth until moving to Berkeley Heights in 1991.

Mary loved to read and learn new things. Her favorite pastimes were to travel, speak Italian and laugh with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, visiting museums and trying new foods. She was a wonderful cook, always experimenting with new recipes while being careful to retain family traditions. She enjoyed baking with her mother and her daughter. While she always regretted being unable to attend college due to a lack of financial resources, she was sure to encourage and assist each of her children in achieving advanced degrees and launching professional careers. She was a true role model who instilled strong family values to her children and grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Little Flower Church choir and Senior Citizens of Berkeley Heights.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elio Bani, and leaves behind her children Richard E. and Nora of Summit, Louis A. and Brigid of Elizabeth, and Catherine M. Suarez and Anthony of Ridgefield; and grandchildren, Sean, Kristen, Andrew, Cara and Michael Bani, Laura and Matthew Suarez. She is also survived by her nephew Frank Loia and niece Irma Conforti.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
